First blog post

I’d only been married for 9 months before I nearly lost my life.   My husband, Justin, and I got pregnant pretty quickly after we got married in October 2015.  I had two period tracker apps on my phone and knew exactly when I was ovulating.  I was nervous about being pregnant, but wanted a mini me.  Once we knew we were pregnant, I quickly contacted the local birth center to create a natural water birth  plan.

My pregnancy was pretty good despite the swelling that came around 24 weeks.  I didn’t have morning sickness or gain a lot of weight.  I was a freshly married sexy pregnant women with curves that I enjoyed.

I’m still getting used to being a wife, stepmom and mother to my firstborn…but not your typical firstborn.   I’m the mother of a 29 week 1lb 12oz micropreemie!  My due date was August 21, 2016 and Gem was born on 6/6/16.  Notice I wrote her birthday in numerical form to show my miracle was born on a day that would be a perfect wedding date.  All of those sixes freaked me out initially, but then I thought about it.  God chose to introduce one of His miracles to the world on 6/6/16 just like He did on 6/5/16 and 6/7/16 or any other day.  I’d been preparing for a day closer to my due date.  My birth plan included an all natural water birth at a small 3 patient room birth center.  My husband and I faithfully attended a weekly 3 hour natural birth class.  I traveled as far as 4 cities to see a prenatal chiropractor to make sure my body was ready for childbirth.  To make a long story short, I had no clue I was about to give birth to my firstborn baby girl.

The day was so relaxing and I enjoyed the last moments of my pregnancy.  My husband and I went to church then visited my parents before coming home to chill.  It began storming outside, so we ordered pizza and wings for dinner.
